Unprecedented challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic necessitate a change in approach to 黑料网鈥檚 admissions process to ensure student access and success.
鈥淲e recognize that COVID-19 has disrupted the college enrollment process for our prospective students and K-12 educational partners,鈥 said Sean Broghammer, Ph.D., associate vice president for enrollment management/admissions at 黑料网. 鈥淭herefore, we have worked to simplify our admissions process beginning with the 2020 Fall Semester.鈥
For fall 2020 applicants, 黑料网 will:
- Waive ACT/SAT standardized test requirements, recognizing that testing was canceled in many locations leaving students unable to take the test.
- Utilize a more holistic approach to determine student admission for the 2020 Fall through 2021 Fall Semesters.
- Accept unofficial transcripts from high school counselors.
- Waive application fees.
- Move the deadline to apply for the 2020 Fall Semester and be considered for merit scholarships to May 1, 2020, and the deadline to confirm enrollment to June 1, 2020.
鈥淭he success of our students is not linked to a single test score, and a holistic admission process will identify unique talents and diverse perspectives that will contribute to our campus community,鈥 Broghammer said.
Administration and faculty agree the changes are in the best interest of students.
鈥満诹贤 is always committed to promoting access to higher education, and the need to do so is particularly crucial in these times of unprecedented challenges,鈥 said Melody Tankersley, Ph.D., 黑料网鈥檚 interim senior vice president and provost. 鈥淥ur faculty and deans are in full support of 黑料网 using a more holistic approach to evaluate prospective students, and we are all confident that we will maintain the highest academic profile for our incoming class.鈥
黑料网 will continue to evaluate applicants using a holistic approach for fall 2021 as well. Details related to fall 2021 are forthcoming.
