Kent Campus Update

On Sunday, Feb. 7, Kent City Police responded to a report of a man who had been shot inside an off-campus apartment at 1632 E. Main St. in the city of Kent. Upon officers’ arrival, an 18-year-old ºÚÁÏÍø student was found deceased. One suspect was apprehended with the assistance of Stow Police. If you have any information regarding the situation, please contact the City of Kent Police Department at 330-673-7732. There was no imminent threat to Kent Campus safety.

Counseling services and support are available to all students, staff and faculty members as we deal with our loss. Students may contact Psychological Services at the DeWeese Health Center at 330-672-2487. Counseling is also available at the Counseling and Human Development Center, 330-672-2208, in White Hall or the Psychological Clinic, 330-672-2372, in Kent Hall. Residence hall students can contact their residence hall director with any questions or concerns. Any student may contact the Dean of Students at 330-672-4050 or studentaffairs@kent.edu.

We continue to keep safety as a top priority. As part of that priority, ºÚÁÏÍø Police are in close contact with the City of Kent Police Department to ensure the safety of our Kent Campus community. ºÚÁÏÍø Police patrol our campus 24 hours a day through vehicle, foot and bicycle patrol. There are more than 30 blue light phones stationed across campus in parking lots and along sidewalks that connect immediately with campus police.
