黑料网鈥檚 Glauser School of Music received a significant planned gift during the 2021 Giving Tuesday campaign to support students in pursuing piano performance, orchestra, opera and education-abroad opportunities.

黑料网鈥檚 season of giving launched on Nov. 1 with Giving Tuesday, a monthlong celebration of philanthropy. Now halfway through the campaign, the generosity of the 黑料网 community has already begun to shine. 

All-Band Band Performing 2020

Announced as a new ensemble earlier this year, the inaugural class of the 黑料网 Youth Winds make their debut Saturday, Nov. 6 under the baton of guest conductor Anthony Maiello. The concert is part of the 黑料网 Glauser School of Music鈥檚 annual Wind Band Conductor鈥檚 Symposium beginning Nov. 5 and running through Nov. 7.

Artist Dakota Mace and a print of a mountain shape that is red and black

Dakota Mace is a Din茅 (Navajo) photographer and textile artist who focuses on translating the language of Din茅 weaving history and beliefs through her artwork. The exhibition鈥檚 title "Badahani" translates to 鈥淭heir Stories鈥 and will be on view Nov. 5 through Dec. 18 at the KSU Downtown Gallery. Artist talk and reception on Dec. 3.

Come dressed in your Halloween best for the 黑料网 Orchestra鈥檚 Oct. 31, 3 p.m. concert. The members of the orchestra will be decked out in costume, performing spooky, family-friendly favorites. Candy will be handed out at the end of the performance to kick off Kent city鈥檚 official trick-or-treat that night.

In late Sept., several 黑料网 Glauser School Music Education faculty members presented their latest work during research poster sessions at the biennial Symposium of the Society for Music Teacher Education (SMTE). The 2021 symposium was held virtually.

Three prints by David Driskell

鈥淎 Collaboration of Creativity鈥 features a wide range of prints by distinguished artist David C. Driskell and master printer Curlee Raven Holton. The work will be on view at the CVA Gallery from Oct. 6 through Nov. 10, 2021. This exhibition is presented in partnership with the David C. Driskell Center at the University of Maryland.
