As a senior in high school, one of the most common questions I was asked was if I was going to join Greek Life once I was in college. I’d always answer back quickly explaining why  could never be for me and how I thought it would be a waste of time.

Hispanic Heritage Month 2023 Theme

Nationally, Sept. 15 marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. This year, ºÚÁÏÍø is celebrating the 2023 Hispanic Heritage Month as Avanzando Juntos: Moving Forward Together with numerous events and celebrations.

Enrollment in the College of Aeronautics and Engineering Soars

Overall enrollment in the College of Aeronautics and Engineering has continued robust growth this fall increasing from 1,141 students in 2022 to 1,288 students in 2023.

Emily Spencer, a senior from North Canton, Ohio, said her time in the Kigali Summer Institute gave her a deeper understanding of humanity.

When she signed up for the Kigali Summer Institute in Rwanda, ºÚÁÏÍø senior Emily Spencer, thought it would be a good training ground for humanitarian work she hopes to perform in the future. When she returned from the three-week course, she felt significantly changed. 

Four staff members from the National Police College in Rwanda have begun their studies as graduate students at ºÚÁÏÍø this semester.

Large numbers of international graduate students are boosting enrollment of both international students and graduate students.

Education Abroad Showcase Blank Lab

Education Abroad Showcase begins Monday, Sept. 18, with events each day through Friday, Sept. 22. 

Online Learning

Parenting students have an entirely different experience on campus. Financial concerns, scheduling and access to childcare are just some of the issues parents on campus have to contend with. ºÚÁÏÍø’s Center for Adult and Veteran Services is providing a new resource for parenting students who are unable to leave their kids at home to study.

Alienware computers

Aliens have landed at ºÚÁÏÍø at Tuscarawas. The campus unveiled a computer lab with 24 new Alienware computers for the fall semester of 2023. Students studying engineering technology and/or animation game design at ºÚÁÏÍø Tuscarawas are able to use these high-end computers to draft images and create code.

ºÚÁÏÍø Today will be following a group of Golden Flashes for the 2023-24 academic year chronicling their efforts and successes during the fall and spring semesters. The group includes students, faculty and administrators who are at different places on their ºÚÁÏÍø journeys.
