Professional development is an important part of being a successful member of the professional workforce. Learning new skills is key for students, faculty and staff. University Library has developed the Digital Scholarship Series, a collection of professional development virtual and in-person opportunities focused on the digital landscape that will help professionals and introduce training to areas that may not be covered in regular instruction and curricula.

Dialogue on Hatred: A Peacebuilder's Perspective, was a continuation of the year-long initiative Dialogue and Difference: A New Understanding designed to engage our ºÚÁÏÍø community and advance our core values of freedom of expression, respect, and kindness in all that we do.

Students in leadership program

The new Leadership Certificate Program at ºÚÁÏÍø focuses on enhancing students’ intrapersonal, interpersonal, and socially just leadership skills.

The program is a culminated experience of what the Pepsi Leadership Center offers. From workshops and annual institutes (Culture of Care Institute and Student Leadership Institute) to leadership classes for credit, the center holistically paired these with ºÚÁÏÍø's Leadership Model and created a program that provides students with a comprehensive view of leadership.

If you frequent the ºÚÁÏÍø Library for Starbucks and studying, you may not have noticed you were within feet of one of the most important resources for students on campus. The Student Multimedia Studio on the first floor provides a space for high academics and creative play for students, faculty and staff.

Julian Grimes, president of Black United Students, one of ºÚÁÏÍø's oldest student organizations, is working to maintain the legacy of the organization credited for starting the formal observance of February as Black History Month.

Mike Jackson

Before Mike Jackson, ’78, returned to ºÚÁÏÍø as a professional-in-residence, he worked for renowned brands like General Motors and Coors on advertising campaigns, including Super Bowl ads. Today, he teaches advertising in the School of Media and Journalism and is faculty advisor for the ºÚÁÏÍø chapter of American Advertising Federation (AAF). Following Super Bowl LVIII, he provided insight into the advertising winners and losers for 2024.
