Transferring Credits

Transfer Credits

With this program, students enroll in courses at a partner (host) institution. You will need to transfer the credits you earn abroad back to 黑料网.

Upon successful completion of the program, the host institution will issue you an official transcript, which will be needed for the credit transfer process.

You must earn passing grades on the courses you take abroad for the credits to transfer.

Prior to departure, students will meet with their academic advisor to complete a Transfer Course Planning (TCP) Form, which will outline the courses you plan to take while abroad and how the courses will transfer to 黑料网.

Some courses have already been pre-approved for transfer to 黑料网 and can be viewed on the Transfer Credit Guide. Please note that this is only a guide and is NOT a comprehensive list of courses available at each partner institution.

Credit Approval

Prior to departure, it is your responsibility to meet with your academic advisor to discuss the courses you plan to take while abroad.

If a course needs to be evaluated for transfer, you are responsible for working with your education abroad advisor to obtain the syllabus and have it reviewed by 黑料网 faculty.

Location & Transportation

Valencia, Spain

鈥嬧嬧嬧嬧嬧嬧婰iving in Valencia means getting the best of Spanish weather--it's milder and warmer than the rest of Spain. Similar to Colorado, Valencia is sunny 300 days of the year and has very little rain. Located on the Eastern coast of Spain, Valencia's miles of beaches offer a taste of nature in the city. In comparison to some other larger Spanish cities, Valencia is quieter and extraordinarily bike-friendly, bursting with bike paths that take you around the city.

In Valencia, two languages are officially spoken, Spanish and Valencian, which is a Catalan dialect. As one of the most intriguing cities in Spain, Valencia is well-known for its City of Science and Arts, a two-kilometer hub of entertainment options and a place students ought to visit; the ultra-modern scientific complex contains astonishing architectural pieces, museums, and clear beautiful water all around. Other famous places are the Valencia Cathedral, the Central Market, and the Old Town. Valencia is a destination that has a very strong Spanish cultural representation, especially through its cuisine, as this is the place where Paella was invented! Valencia is very welcoming to people from all over the world and is a city full of beaches, festivals, botanic gardens, and more.

Campus Information

UEV鈥檚 campus is located in the coastal city of Valencia, Spain. Not as large as Madrid or Barcelona, the city still offers all of the Spanish charm on a slightly smaller scale. UEV is undoubtedly a great place to meet other exchange students, as there are more than five higher education institutions nearby. Close proximity to the beach is another attractive feature of studying at UEV.

Transportation

Airports

Valencia Airport is about 45 minutes from UEV鈥檚 campus via public transportation or about 25 minutes by car.

Local Transit

Students can navigate Valencia using buses, the metro, or trams. For travel farther from Valencia, students can use trains or the airport.

Housing & Meals

Accommodations

UEV is an urban campus and does not have university residence halls; therefore, students rent flats in the city. An incoming guide will be sent to students who are accepted into the program by UEV with useful tips for finding housing in Valencia.

In addition, we encourage you to visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) travel page for for traveling to your destination(s).

If vaccinations or medications are needed according to the CDC, you should make arrangements for appointments with your healthcare provider or the DeWeese Health Center as soon as possible. Appointment openings at the DeWeese Health Center are limited and vaccines may need to be ordered, which takes time. Please note that not all immunizations are available at the DeWeese Health Center.

Visa Information

A visa is a document required by many countries, in addition to your passport, that allows you to enter the country for a certain purpose (whether that鈥檚 to stay, transit, or exit). Essentially, it is the country's government giving you legal permission to enter their country to travel, study, work, etc.

Please note, it is solely the responsibility of the student to:

  • determine the entry, transit, and stay requirements for the country or countries to which they will travel,
  • and to apply for any necessary visas, stay permits, or any other immigration requirements of the host nation(s).

It is also the responsibility of the student to:

  • verify the correct documentation required to apply for the required visa(s),
  • apply for the visa(s) early enough to ensure there is enough processing time,
  • and pay any fees associated with obtaining the visa(s).

黑料网's Office of Global Education is available to provide general guidance regarding student visa requirements and procedures; however, each student who travels abroad is expected to manage their own legal obligations regarding international travel.

It is strongly recommended by the Office of Global Education that you carefully review the appropriate consulate or embassy website for the nation(s) you plan to visit in order to determine current entry/study/exit visa requirements.

International Relations and Spanish

鈥淏eing in a new culture, you are humbled very quickly. It has been a process of becoming a learner outside of the classroom and getting comfortable with making mistakes. I鈥檓 still very early in my program, but I am quickly realizing how impactful it is to immerse yourself in the shoes of others and to strip back your own perspective to understand yourself and your culture better. Being here alone has been intimidating, but it has allowed me to converse more openly with myself without the influences of home and also pushes me to appreciate parts of both lives I never would have noticed.鈥
