One of ’s most adventurous opportunities is its acclaimed education-abroad program. For students to learn more about these opportunities, the Office of Global Education is hosting I Heart Travel Week running from Feb. 10-14. Margaret Hosack, an education abroad advisor who helps run the event week, sat down to share more.
Hosack detailed how many possibilities are available for students who want to study abroad, stating,
“ has opportunities for students to go abroad to over 60 countries. No matter a student’s major or how long they’d like to be abroad, there are opportunities available.”
Hosack also made sure to say how transformative the education-abroad experience can be for students. That’s why she is excited to host I Heart Travel Week. She highlighted that
“whether it’s exposing yourself to different perspectives, new cultures or new ways of living, it will teach you both about the world and about yourself.”
Students can take part in a plethora of fun and informative events, which are all free for students. Below, you can find details about all of the amazing events offered throughout I Heart Travel Week.

Monday
From 9-11 a.m. in front of the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center steps and near Smith Hall, students can grab a warm beverage and meet the team from the Office of Global Education during the Education Abroad Meet & Greet.
From 3-5:00 p.m., students can gather at the Center for Undergraduate Excellence and enjoy desserts from three different continents at the International Dessert Night event.
The idea of studying abroad can sometimes seem overwhelming, which is why from 4-5 p.m. on Microsoft Teams, students can join a webinar in which frequently asked questions about education-abroad programs can be answered.
Tuesday
Interested in learning more about education abroad? From 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the entrance to Eastway, students can stop by a table and learn more about education abroad at a meet and greet.
From 4-5 p.m. in Bowman Hall (Room 206), students can join the team from the Office of Global Education for tips and resources on becoming an adaptable and organized first-time traveler at the “First Time Traveler: A Guide to Going Abroad” event.
Wednesday
From 12-1:30 p.m. at the Kent Student Center Ballroom Balcony, the Office of Global Education will be hosting its first Cultural Café of the semester. At this event, students can listen to Patricia Terceros share about her home country, Bolivia, while enjoying a free lunch featuring Bolivian dishes.
Hoping to study abroad during the summer? From 2-2:30 p.m. on Microsoft Teams, students can join an education abroad advisor to learn more about summer education-abroad options.
From 3:30-4:30 p.m. in Bowman Hall (Room 218), students can “Fall in Love with Florence” while learning more about the Florence program.
Students studying Spanish language can join the Spanish Immersion Program Info Session from 3:30-4:15 p.m. in Bowman Hall (Room 124) to learn about the programs available in Summer 2025.
Students also can get crafty from 5-6:30 p.m. in Bowman Hall (Room 124), while making their very own DIY travel journal and eating snacks.
Thursday
From 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on Microsoft Teams, students can learn more about the Florence program.
Love photography? From 3-3:30 p.m. on Microsoft Teams, students can come to the Photography 101 workshop for tips on how to take great photos abroad that truly capture their experience and story studying abroad.
From 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in Bowman Hall (Room 124), students (especially Swifties!) can make friendship bracelets, keychains and more to wear and swap during their time spent in Florence, Italy. They can also drop by to listen to Taylor Swift and hear about the Florence Summer Institute and Semester Program from Florence alumni.
Friday
Love Japan? From 11 a.m.-12 p.m. in Bowman Hall (Room 204), students can join an information session to learn how they can study in Japan for the summer, semester or even the academic year.
What about South Korea? From 12-1 p.m. in Bowman Hall (Room 204), students can join an information session to learn how they can study abroad in South Korea.
Lastly, from 5-8 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom, students can explore the Global Safari Fest. During the event, students will be given a “passport” with which they can travel to many different countries during the fair. Students also will be able to taste food from around the world and watch a showcase of cultural performances.

I Heart Travel Week is a great opportunity for students interested in studying abroad. The Office of Global Education is a great resource year-round for students with questions about education-abroad programs. As Hosack highlighted in her interview, “don’t be afraid to come talk to us!” The Education Abroad team offers in-person and virtual advising appointments and can be reached by emailing edabroad@kent.edu. Hosack also recommended the Financial Billing and Enrollment Center as a good place to ask questions related to financing education abroad.
