IN A FLASH: Moon Over Campus

Some days we can see the moon during the day, and other days we can鈥檛.

It looks tiny next to the water tower in this image. But, second to the sun, Earth鈥檚 moon is by far the brightest celestial object we can see. But the moon isn鈥檛 always visible during the day. This is due to the Earth鈥檚 atmosphere and the orbital cycle of our natural satellite. If our planet didn鈥檛 have an atmosphere, the moon would be visible from Earth all the time.
