at Stark recently granted tenure to two faculty members and promoted others in rank.
“ at Stark is exceptionally proud of the academic accomplishments of this diverse group of scholars, and it celebrates their scholarly achievements,” said Thomas Norton-Smith, Ph.D., interim assistant dean for academic affairs.
Receiving new designations are:
Lindsay Starkey, Ph.D., assistant professor of history, was awarded tenure. Starkey joined the Stark Campus faculty in 2012. A historian, Starkey studies the ways in which 16th-century European Christian assumptions shaped worldviews.
Mary Gallagher, Ph.D., was promoted to associate professor of sociology and awarded tenure. Gallagher, who also joined the faculty in 2012, studies the ways in which identity processes influence self-evaluation and psychological distress.
Oliver Ruff, Ph.D., a tenured faculty member, was promoted to associate professor of mathematical science. Ruff began teaching at Stark in 2009 and is an expert in representation theory.
Keith Lloyd, Ph.D., a tenured English faculty member, was awarded the rank of professor. Lloyd began working at the Stark Campus in 2002, and his continuing interest is in developing communication-based models welcoming of gender and cultural diversity.
Jack McWhorter, M.F.A., tenured faculty member and renowned artist, also achieved the rank of professor. McWhorter, who has worked at Stark since 1994, is an abstract painter recognized nationally for his work.
