The public is invited to experience international food and live cultural performances.
Building bridges to other cultures is a way of life at at Stark – and not just during the fall and spring.
Stark’s Global Gateway Day is a family-friendly summer afternoon filled with cultural performances, international food sampling, global games and activities for all ages. The event will take place on Saturday, June 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Campus Center. This second annual event is free and open to the public.
“A key initiative of Stark is to expand opportunities for students and to Stark County families to engage in global citizenship and participate in cultural events through our campus,” said Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., dean of Stark. “This is the type of event that opens you up to new ways of thinking and teaches you about the world beyond your own.”
Activities will include:
- International Food Samplings: Families can enjoy authentic food samples from the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, West Africa and Southeast Asia.
- Live Cultural Performances: Attendees can experience cultural performances such as a Chinese Dragon Dance, salsa dancing and an African drum and dance interactive performance and workshop with ’s own African Ensemble.
- Games and Activities: Families also can participate in an Origami station, get a Henna tattoo, view Stark’s study abroad photo gallery and enjoy a world landmark photo booth.
