Melissa Dyer, Ph.D., MBA, MSN, RN
Biography
I am a Registered Nurse with 24 years of experience. I am a ºÚÁÏÍø alum (x4 degrees!) and College of Nursing Professor and Course Coordinator. I am also the Faculty Advisor for ºÚÁÏÍø's Student Nurses' Association. My clinical background is in Obstetrics. I have worked in the labor and delivery, high risk perinatal, mother/ baby, reproductive endocrinology, infertility, outpatient fetal evaluation, and in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit settings. Prior to teaching, I worked in hospital administration. I lobby and advocate for health care policy issues and led nurses as a hospital administrator. I have taught a variety of courses. In addition, I am the Program Administrator for ºÚÁÏÍø's Community Health Worker Program. I have served as an American Delegate to China to study that country’s education and healthcare systems and am currently an Education Leadership Policy Fellow. My research area of interest is the role of the nurse in assessing, identifying, and providing interventions for victims of human trafficking. ºÚÁÏÍø is home to me. I have graduated from KSU four times and met my husband here 27 years ago. I owe everything to KSU and am privileged to be faculty here.
