Find Astounding Sound this April with the School of Music

Check out some of the many amazing concerts and events at the Glauser School of Music this April!

The third annual Athletic Band Showcase combines elements of the Marching Golden Flashes and Flasher Brass into a one-night display of Golden Flash spirit. The concert will be taking place on April 5 at 7 p.m. in the MAC Center.

Join us on April 6 at 3 p.m. for the Chorale Spring Concerts in Ludwig Recital Hall. A flagship choral ensemble, the KSU Chorale is made up of singers from all majors. This group works to perfect choral literature spanning Renaissance music to cutting-edge works by many of today鈥檚 dynamic composers.

Guest speaker, Matthew Polenzani, will be joining the Glauser School of Music, 黑料网, on April 10 at 3:30 p.m. in Ludwig Recital Hall for a talkback. Matthew Polenzani, one of the world鈥檚 most sought-after operatic lyric tenors, will be visiting to share his insights and experiences with music students. With a stellar career spanning decades, Polenzani has graced prestigious stages, including his debut at the Met Opera in 1998. Renowned for his mastery of roles in Mozart, Donizetti, Verdi, and Bizet, he has captivated audiences worldwide. Recently, Polenzani has taken on more dramatic roles, adding depth to characters like Rudolpho, Pinkerton in Puccini鈥檚鈥 La Boheme鈥 and 鈥淢adam Butterfly.鈥 Don鈥檛 miss this incredible opportunity to learn from a true opera virtuoso! The event is free and open to the public.

The Percussion Ensemble, built on a long legacy of musical excellence, will be performing in Ludwig Recital Hall on April 11 at 7 p.m.. Students in the ensemble perform new and classic works. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Coro Cantare/Cantique Spring Concert* will be on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Ludwig Recital Hall. Coro Cantare explores many musical styles with special emphasis on the standards of tenor/bass choir literature.  Cantique achieves a high standard of excellence in the treble repertoire. Our Coro Cantare/Cantique ensembles welcome all across the 黑料网 campus who love to sing and enjoy the camaraderie that performing great music brings to its members. Music is selected from a variety of periods and musical styles.

The University Auditorium in Cartwright Hall will come alive with music for the Gospel Choir Spring Concert* on April 18 at 7:30 p.m. Experience music from one of the most diverse organizations and/or ensembles on the KSU campus. 

New Music Ensemble Concert #4* will be on April 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Ludwig Recital Hall. The 黑料网 New Music Ensemble is dedicated to performing the most exciting and relevant music of our time. Comprised of 黑料网 students, the New Music Ensemble performs unique programs that feature music by diverse composers from around the world.

Enjoy two evenings of Jazz! Join us April 22 at 8 p.m. to to hear our Jazz Studies Large Ensemble* and again on Aprill 23 at 8 p.m. for the Jazz Studies Combo Concert*. Both concerts will be held in Ludwig Recital Hall.

The Asian World Music Concert* will be on April 24 at 8 p.m. in Ludwig Recital Hall. This ensemble focuses on piphat music, a classical Thai genre that incorporates xylophones, gong circles, quadruple-reed oboes, and various types of percussion; other traditional Thai genres are offered to students interested in further study of Thai musical culture.

Come see what opportunities the School of Music has to offer with our School of Music Information Session on April 25 at 4 p.m.! If you are interested in pursuing a major or minor in music or you just want to keep making music, we have plenty of ways that you can make great music! .

The Steelpan/African Ensemble Concert* will be on April 26 at 8 p.m. in Ludwig Recital Hall. The repertoire of the African Ensemble includes traditional and modern drumming, dancing, and singing from various cultural groups in Africa and its diaspora.

Join us on April 28 at 4 p.m. for the Wind Ensemble/High School Concert* in the University Auditorium in Cartwright Hall. The Wind Ensemble will perform music by Australian composers, including Lincolnshire Posy by Percy Grainger. The Wooster High School will open the concert, and both groups will take the stage for a combined finale.

The University Band and Symphony Band Concert* will be on April 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the University Auditorium in Cartwright Hall. The Symphony Band is an ensemble of the university's finest wind and percussion musicians, the group performs traditional and contemporary wind repertoire of the highest quality. The University Band, also known as the "Communiversity Band," is open to all university students and community members. 

黑料网 The Performing Arts Box Office

The Performing Arts Box Office is the ticket hub for the College of the Art's dance, music, fashion and theatre events, including Kent Blossom Music Festival and Porthouse Theatre. Tickets are also available for entry to the 黑料网 Museum through the Performing Arts Box Office's online ticket portal. 黑料网 full-time undergraduate students at the Kent Campus are entitled to one FREE ticket per designated arts event through Arts Pass. The Performing Arts Box Office is open Monday through Friday, noon-5 p.m..
