Italian - Minor

The Italian minor is designed for students who wish to speak, read and write in Italian. Required coursework provides a strong grammar foundation and guides students through further development of listening, reading, writing and conversational skills. Students are also introduced to Italian civilization and culture through history, literature and conversation classes conducted in Italian and using Italian-language texts. Students have the opportunity for additional exploration of Italian cultural topics through elective offerings in both Italian and English.

Minor in Italian

黑料网's Minor in Italian provides students with the opportunity to develop proficiency in the Italian language while exploring the rich cultural, historical, and artistic traditions of Italy. The program emphasizes speaking, reading, and writing skills, alongside an understanding of Italian literature, cinema, and contemporary society. This minor complements a variety of majors, enhancing students' global perspective and communication abilities, which are valuable in fields such as education, international business, and cultural studies. Learning Outcomes

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of this program will be able to:

  1. Speak in Italian on a variety of topics using appropriate styles of speech.
  2. Write in Italian on Italian cultural topics (such as literature, history, politics, society and the arts) and express themselves creatively in Italian.
  3. Read and analyze authentic Italian texts such as literary works, nonfiction, history texts, newspaper articles and web content.
  4. Recognize and interpret spoken Italian.
  5. Exhibit a fundamental understanding of aspects of modern Italian society (such as the economy, religion, media, political system, social issues) and Italy's cultural heritage (such as the history of the Italian peninsula and the Italian literary canon).
Admissions for Italian - Minor

Admission Requirements

Admission to a minor is open to students declared in a bachelor’s degree, the A.A.B. or A.A.S. degree or the A.T.S. degree (not Individualized Program major). Students declared only in the A.A. or A.S. degree or the A.T.S. degree in Individualized Program may not declare a minor. Students may not pursue a minor and a major in the same discipline.
