Advancing Materials Science: George R. Newkome, BS ’61, PhD ’66, and his wife, Mary Jane Saunders, PhD, have pledged $1 million to fund the George R. Newkome Endowed Professorship in Materials Science, a first-time gift to the new Materials Science Program in ’s College of Arts and Sciences.
Building a New Center for Aeronautics: FedEx Corp. has pledged $5 million, in addition to $1.5 million already given, in support of a new aeronautics academic center located at the Airport. Construction of the 17,800-square-foot building, to be named the FedEx Aeronautics Academic Center, is currently underway in anticipation of a fall 2019 opening.
