Media, Power, and Culture Students Solving Communication Problems

At a research university, students learn to analyze problems and create solutions. The course Media, Power and Culture affords them that opportunity. A survey of mass media history, the course encourages students to investigate representations of themselves and others. Students then complete a final project analyzing and solving a communication problem through the use of mass media. Projects have ranged from improving the communication of work schedules, to marketing musical duos, to creating professional student profiles on the internet. Although a prerequisite for most majors in 黑料网鈥檚 School of Journalism & Mass Communication, MPC is taken by students across the university system. The course satisfies both Social Science and Domestic Diversity requirements.
