Postage Rates Changing in January

The Postal Regulatory Commission approved the U.S. Postal Service’s request for a change in postage rates effective Jan. 22, 2017. Some of the highlights include:

  • New first-class stamp rate will increase to 49 cents
  • Free “second ounce” will now be good up to 3.5 ounces for presort letters
  • Basic flats will increase from 94 to 98 cents
  • Standard Mail will now be called Marketing Mail (both commercial and nonprofit)
