Lynda.com Online Courses Now Available Free to All Students, Faculty and Staff

students, faculty and staff now have free, unlimited access to Lynda.com (), an online library of instructional videos that cover the latest software, online tools and even topics such as audio mixing, marketing, business and education.

Access to Lynda.com was made possible in fall 2016 through a partnership between the Division of Information Services, University Libraries and the Office of Continuing and Distance Education.

A LinkedIn company, Lynda.com offers more than 4,000 online courses taught by industry professionals in 12 categories, including education and e-Learning, business, design, marketing, photography and more. Users can take courses on general topics like mobile marketing strategies and time management fundamentals or learn specific software such as InDesign, Photoshop, Java and even virtual reality.

"We're thrilled to be able to provide students, faculty and staff with free access to this service," says Jay Frye, director of service management within Information Services. "Lynda.com is a well-known learning resource with thousands of video tutorials, from which the university community can now benefit."

students, faculty and staff have access to the full library of courses regardless of their major or department. For instructors, Lynda.com can be used to help supplement class lectures and allow students to learn at their own pace outside of the classroom.

“Students have the option to dig in on course topics by watching relevant tutorials at their own pace,” says Stefanie Moore, an associate professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. “These video clips supplement course content and give students hands-on experience as they follow along with the clips and exercise files.”

Moore has previously used Lynda.com to supplement classes in the public relations sequence at , allowing students in digital analytics and digital public relations courses to learn the basics of programs such as Excel and Google Analytics.
