Salem Students Receive Top Awards from Kent English Department

ºÚÁÏÍø Salem Students Take Home Top English Awards

Three students from the ºÚÁÏÍø Salem Campus were recognized by ºÚÁÏÍø’s English department during the annual student awards ceremony earlier this month.

Derek Shasteen received the prestigious Anna Ulen Engleman Creative Writing Award for his work of poetry. He is a junior English major, taught by Dr. Craig Paulenich, English professor at ºÚÁÏÍø Salem.

Receiving the Bedford St. Martin’s College Writing Essay Awards were Michelle Santini, for placing first in the Tier I level of competition, and Jonathon McCann, placing first in the Tier II level. Santini is a freshman, majoring in nursing, while McCann is a freshman pre-med major. Both were taught by James Winter, English lecturer on the Salem Campus.

The ºÚÁÏÍø Salem students’ works were judged against submissions from students representing all of ºÚÁÏÍø’s campuses.
