When Flash’s Food Pantry opened a few months ago on the Salem Campus, support for the project was immediate. Individuals and groups from the campus and surrounding community found ways to contribute and help fill the shelves.

Most recently, the pantry inventory was boosted by a monetary donation from the Theta Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Delta International Honor Society of Sociology in ’s Department of Sociology and Criminology.

Dr. Christopher Dum, associate professor and faculty advisor, noted that the group collected donations from members of the department, as well as students.

“We always strive to give back to our community and we know that food insecurity is a life-or-death issue,” he said. “Our department has amazing members from many Regional Campuses, and we felt that giving to a Regional Campus would help recognize how our colleagues and students across all Kent campuses enhance our department and our lives.”

Dum acknowledge the generosity of the department and Chair Dick Adams for supporting the efforts.
