NEW YORK, New York - The Golden Flash Asset Management (GFAM) Team took third place in both the Global Portfolio category (Graduate) and the Fixed Income Portfolio category (Undergraduate) at the G.A.M.E. Forum held recently in New York City.
Student team members who participated in the competition included MBA student Jorge Astorga; senior finance major Minung Chung; MBA student Chase Holland; senior finance major Cameron Brooks and senior finance major Zachary Manzella.
“With the 2023 awards, the team has now won a total of eight awards at this global event since first entering the competition in 2019. The team has won multiple awards three years in a row, competing with 110-120 schools annually,” said William Billik, Ph.D., undergraduate GFAM advisor. “The efforts of our current and past student members have given the recognition of being one of the best student-managed investment funds in the nation.”
The G.A.M.E. Forum is hosted by Quinnipiac University. Quinnipiac’s Global Asset Management Education Forum offers participants the opportunity to discuss and debate financial best practices with world-renowned industry leaders.
“The G.A.M.E. Forum was an incredible experience for our team. We had the opportunity to interact with other students from around the world, listen to insightful keynote speeches, and showcase our skills and knowledge. It was a great opportunity for us to learn from others and gain valuable insights into the world of finance and investment,” said Jorge Astorga, President of Golden Flash Asset Management International. “Winning the third-place award for the global portfolio was an incredible achievement for our team. We put a lot of effort into our research and analysis, and it was rewarding to see our hard work pay off. It was also a great validation of the investment philosophy and strategy that we developed as a team.”
The Golden Flash Asset Management Group was established in 2017 and provides student participants the opportunity to manage more than $1 million in assets through four separate funds. The purpose of the group is to give students real-world experience and advance career opportunities in finance.
“Being part of GFAM has been a transformative experience for me. As the president of the international fund, I have had the opportunity to develop my leadership, communication and analytical skills,” Astorga said. “Working with a team of talented and driven individuals has given me valuable exposure to the world of finance and investment, which has been instrumental in shaping my career aspirations.”
